Do Whatever You Think is Best

Tim Warner - Friday, August 27, 2010

When you hear the phrase, Do whatever you think is best, you can rest assured you have the client's trust. If a plumber comes to your house, would you give him total creative freedom? Probably not. Most likely you would want a diagnosis and then be presented with options so you could make an informed decision. What if you have used this same plumber for twenty years or have Sunday dinner with him on a regular basis? Then, perhaps, you would endow him with certain inalienable plumbing rights. Why? Trust.

In the world of web development is trust enough?

Research shows that trust is the number one reason you'll decide to partner with a web developer. On a deeper level, what exactly do you trust? Do you trust that the graphic designer can create breathtaking websites? Do you feel that your sales rep is trustworthy? Has the development staff successfully built similar sites for others? While all of these facets may play a factor in your decision, you should ultimately ask yourself whether or not the web firm fully understands what you will use to measure success for the project?

If your choice firm is incapable of operating on this level, then it will be up to you to instill these qualities from other sources - either another agency or yourself. If that's the case would you ever consider uttering this phrase? I think not.
